Scaffold picture
The following is the earliest scaffold photo found in Shenyang at present. It is the scene of John Luo when he built the main chapel of Dongguan Church. It has a history of 135 years.
In the 11th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1872), Pastor John Rowe, who was thirty years old and newly married, was sent by the Scottish Presbyterian Church to take his wife across the ocean, and arrived at the commercial port of Niuzhuang (now Yingkou District) to buy land and build houses through Yantai. In the second year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1876), John Luo set up a lecture in Xiaobeiguan, the capital of Fengtian Province (now Shenyang), with the help of Chinese missionaries. The next year, it moved to Xihuamen, and soon moved to Siping Street (around today's Central Street). In the 14th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1888), at the purchase site of the Great East Gate, the preparation for the construction of the Dongguan Cathedral Chapel was started. At that time, the steep and majestic cathedral was able to accommodate 800 seats. The grand inauguration ceremony was held on October 22, the 15th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1889) in the Qing Dynasty. It also became the largest Christian church in the Northeast at that time.
In the Dordogne region of France, archaeologists found the traces left by the scaffolding beside the Paleolithic cave rock paintings - the hole, which was used by the Paleolithic primitive people to erect a scaffolding similar device 17000 years ago, so that they can paint in areas that are difficult to reach. There is also archaeological evidence that ancient Egyptians used wooden scaffolding to build pyramid-related buildings. It was not until the early 20th century that the familiar metal scaffold came out.
It can be seen that scaffolding has existed in China or many years ago. It is only a change of material. It was originally made of wood, but now it is made of metal, and some automation technology has been added.
